KB Home seeks a Purchasing Manager to add to the team. The primary responsibility of the Purchasing Manager is to manage the feasibilities, product development, bidding, contracting, and vendor relations of one or more communities. This position requires managing contractor and vendor relations and the ability to understand unit costing and quantity estimating of construction materials. The Purchasing Manager is required to manage/mentor employees in the position of Purchasing Administrator, Purchasing Coordinator, assistant Purchasing Agent, and Purchasing Agent.
The Purchasing Manager will have responsibility for:
- Understand and draft house plan specifications
- Perform quantity take-offs and estimating for house plans
- Negotiate house pricing with contractors and vendors
- Understand trade scopes of work and contractors bid proposals
- Prepare scopes of work for subcontract agreements
- Prepare community subcontract agreements w/ scopes of work
- Build house plan master budgets within the internal software program
- Process contract addendum's within the internal software program
- Maintain Purchasing Weekly and Monthly Reports.
- Support product development by interacting with Consultants and other internal Depts. during design phase.
- Ensure direct and option costs are completed for projected communities.
- Manage value engineering/design meetings
- Support and help execute Area and National purchasing directives
- Continually look into innovative products, techniques and changes in the home building industry

KB Home requirements include:
- A minimum of 4-6 years experience within the production homebuilding industry
- A proven track record of success in managing and leading a team
- Excellent written, verbal and organizational skills needed
- Outstanding work and customer service ethic required.
- Strong IT skills: Expert using Excel and some experience using JD Edwards software.
